Source code is a version of a computer program that is written in any human readable computer language.  Object code is the machine readable form of a program.  Source and object codes of computer programs are subject to copyright protection.  Operating systems perform internal machine functions such as translating source code to object code.   They are also subject to protection under Copyright Act and are not precluded as an idea, process, or method of operation.
